As a Black-led, regional affordable housing developer, our goal is to identify stable, decent-quality, affordable housing opportunities throughout the Bay Area, which critical for creating vibrant communities while addressing the affordable housing crisis. We meet with community members and stakeholders to ensure meaningful public involvement and for them to have a clear voice in the development process.

Construction and Architecture

As a nonprofit developer of affordable homes for sale and rental, CHDC creates high-quality housing options that improve neighborhoods. W CHDC develops single-family homes; multi-unit affordable rental projects; and mixed-use projects with commercial as well as residential opportunities. We are recognized as a leading affordable homeownership developer.

Areas of Focus

For more than 30 years CHDC has developed sustainable housing for families of all sizes and ages, seniors, and people with disabilities. We serve Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano counties and emphasize affordability for people with incomes below 80% of the area median income.

CHDC has a highly experienced and educated staff who provides project management and construction management expertise thru a systematic methodology of real estate development. Our partners and staff employ a customized approach to each project, from site selection, project design, financing to construction.
